The Great Blue Herons of Dickinson — Dickinson Texas Art Guild
The Great Blue Herons project is a community-based initiative centered around Dickinson Bayou, aimed at showcasing the city of Dickinson while promoting conservation efforts and boosting economic growth and tourism. This unique public art project features 5-foot-tall heron sculptures, painted and adorned by local artists, strategically placed throughout the city. The project not only enhances the charm and appeal of our city but also aims to increase foot traffic and tourism.
The Southeast coast of Texas is home to the third-largest bird migration path in the United States, and one of the most beautiful birds found along the Dickinson Bayou is the Great Blue Heron. Our goal is to maintain a healthy bayou for these birds and other wildlife, raising awareness about bayou health so our community can continue to enjoy this natural sanctuary. Our efforts include engaging and educating the public through outreach, classroom visits, habitat protection initiatives, and organized trash patrols.
