DESCRIPTION
To celebrate 50 years of serving the teens of Lincoln, NE, Campus Life sponsored a sculpture public art project called Serving Hands Lincoln. According to Campus Life director Mike Schulte, “We chose ‘hands’ as our concept for the project as a representation of our mission, as we love serving the community and reaching teens in difficult circumstances. We also know that this heart of service is shared by many and look forward to celebrating our 50th Anniversary in such an amazing and creative way!”
Their goal for Serving Hands Lincoln was to find sponsors for 50 artists to decorate 50, six-foot, polyurethane resin hands. So far, they have received over 80 artists’ proposals and are hoping to match every single one with patrons.
Icon Poly was excited to work with Campus Life and has even helped a few of the artists recreate the fiberglass hand sculptures so that they are in different positions. Serving Hands will be on display throughout Lincoln from May – September 2019. These giant hand sculptures will then be auctioned off to benefit both the artist and the organization.
